Restoration
As Coordinator of Pronatura Veracruz’s Mountains Program, I led the design and implementation of restoration projects alongside an incredible team. Our work focused on the mountains of eastern Mexico, prioritizing watershedswith vital environmental services, habitats for endangered species, and areas of global conservation importance, such as: Mesoamerican and Madrean Pine-Oak Woodlands hotspots, the Veracruz/Puebla Volcanoes AZE site and the Centro de Veracruz IBA.
Our projects incorporated a range of strategies, including: physical protection (e.g., firebreaks or wire), production and establishment of seedlings of native species (e.g., shrubs and trees that produce fruit for birds, fix nitrogen, etc.), seed rain, soil translocation and creation of habitats for fauna (e.g., log piles and artificial bird perches).
All the activities featured here were developed during my years at Pronatura Veracruz, always in collaboration with a fantastic team—because conservation is all about teamwork!
