Plants provide material to meet the needs of people worldwide, from food and medicine to wood for cooking and heating homes. Today, most of the world's forests can be considered social-ecological systems.
My research on this topic tries to answer questions such as: What plant species do local communities use? How do they use them? How sustainable are their practices? How do people affect the structure and diversity of plant communities? How resilient are these practices to climate change?
